Edgecut
A downloadable game
Started developing Edgecut back in 2020.
Mainly inspired by Dark Souls and King's Field series. I try to make it realistic, in terms of damage, armor and weapons, but also have some fun things, like throwing knives and probably will add some magic. By realistic, I mean weapons being deadly, and armors actually doing something. I also don't like i-frames, and enjoy when player character is as easily injured, as enemies.
Currently, it's only singleplayer, but I'll probably add multiplayer in future if enough people would be interested in it.
I use Godot 3.6 engine.
Basically, I've been making systems and basic stuff for 5 years, and it's finally time when project is more or less in playable state.
Performance notes
Game uses precise hitboxes for combat, so it needs quite a lot of FPS. I myself play at 60 FPS Locked at v-sync, because it was easy to develop for that and my PC can't really handle more, and I don't know how it works with higher FPS. However, in theory, more FPS - better collision detection for combat.
I still haven't optimised shadows yet, if your FPS is dropping below 60 - try disabling Dynamic Shadows and/or Shadow Filtering, this increases FPS for me dramatically.
Controls
B - open inventory (ESC to close it)
Right Mouse Button - use/equip/de-equip items in inventory. (You need to holster weapons to de-equip them first)
TAB - holster/unholster.
Q - Use left hand item/shield. (If using one handed weapon and no left hand item - Q to attack from left side)
R - Parry.
Hold X,E,2,3 while attacking for special attack.
V - dodge.
M - camera mode (1-3 person). A bit buggy.
